A New Kind of Studio
Vuguru is an independent studio that develops and finances scripted series for digital and television worldwide. Founded in 2006 by Michael D. Eisner’s Tornante Company, and co-owned by Canada’s Rogers Media, Vuguru programming has been licensed in over 110 countries.
Vuguru develops and invests in great creative ideas. The company was founded on the premise that amazing stories can thrive on emerging digital platforms. As digital has grown to challenge television for audience, talent and compelling stories, Vuguru has expanded its charter to focus on long form scripted (half hour comedy and one-hour drama) programming. The company is currently financing the development of multiple series targeted toward cable television and subscription VOD providers.
Vuguru’s short-form library consists of more than 25 scripted titles that have appeared on the likes of Hulu, AOL, Yahoo!, Amazon, Syfy Digital, CW Digital, and YouTube. Rogers Media handles Vuguru titles in Canada, while FremantleMedia distributes Vuguru’s library on TV and digital platforms outside North America. Content Media and BBC Worldwide have also distributed Vuguru titles internationally.
Recent short-form projects include We Need Help and The Fuzz, on Yahoo! Screen, as well as the company’s first unscripted project in Partnership with NASCAR: Flat Out.
