The Cream

Remember the days when a milkman would come to your house and leave a couple of glass bottles of cold milk in a small silver metal box by the back door? Neither do we. But apparently, if you left that milk undisturbed for several hours, a rich and tasty liquid – the cream – would separate from the rest of the milk and yes, rise to the top.

What does any of this have to do with on-line videos? Good question. Each day, over 100,000 new videos are posted on leading video sites such as YouTube and Myspace Video. That's close to 70 videos each minute. That's a lot of milk.

So what does that mean for your viewing habits? You can sit there and wait for computers and their sophisticated algorithms and "most popular” rankings to tell you what to watch." But as good as computers are at tracking minutiae, when it comes to what is subjectively good, they simply cannot compete with the human brain. All the microprocessors in the world are no match for the complex cognitive processes that make up our ability to discern what is funny and what isn't. So, while we respect the very technology that allows the creation and distribution of on-line videos, we trust our heads and our hearts to decide what is truly special and worth your time.

That is why our mission at The Cream is to separate the truly outstanding videos from the rest. It doesn't mean that we will find those videos before anyone else does. It simply means that if you come to The Cream you are guaranteed that the videos have been carefully selected by human editors who are dedicated to finding the very best of the very best in on-line quality content, the "cream of the crop" if you will.
